F.A.Q.

What will a tutoring session look like?

Each tutoring session will have a core skill/strategy and practice with that skill. It will consist of the target lesson, practice and application, and creating of support materials that can be referenced at a later time (such as an Interactive Notebook). Sessions will be relaxed and fun, while still focusing on learning!

Do I need to stay with my child?

You’re welcome to stay in my living room with my dog Hope, in your car and even leave your student with me to run errands. I live alone so feel free to make yourself at home while I’m tutoring your student. If you need to bring your other children that is also fine, I know how crazy life can be.

How can I find out how my child is doing?

I am available for a few minutes after every session to answer brief questions. I can email you every few months to update you on where we are in my program. I’m very open with what level we are at after every session as more of an informal way of communication. The best way to see what your child is learning is to ask your child to show you and share what they learned in the session! Together, you can discuss ways to use that learning in your child’s day-to-day life.

How long will each class/session be?

Tutoring sessions are 45 minutes each. I do build in 15 minutes in between students so there is time to have a brief conversation about how your student is doing.

Do I communicate with other professionals like special education teachers or classroom teachers?

Yes I do encourage working together with other professionals in the students life, as it’s the best for the student. This doesn’t always work but I will make the first connection if needed.

All year long tutoring

Tutoring is all year long, I don’t break it up into school year tutoring or summer tutoring. Tutoring is a commitment so I do aim for the long term but we can end if things don’t work out.

Where do I park and What is my address?

You can park anywhere there is not a carport. Most clients park by the pool or the free spaces around my apartment. My address is 11146 Voyager Lane NW Apt 103 Silverdale, WA 983838 (Ridgetop Apartments).
