I would 100% recommend. My son did summer sessions with Katie. She was absolutely amazing with him. Not only did he not have a summer slide, he actually came up almost a full grade level just over those few weeks (he even had teachers comment on his reading when he went back to school). The only reason that my son isn’t still working with her is because our family schedule during school year is just crazy and we are looking forward to hopefully working with her again in the future. – I. I was very happy with Katie’s services for both of my boys. Due to family reasons, I wasn’t able to keep my kiddo’s with her, but that was no fault of hers. She communicated with me well and pushed my boys the way they needed to be pushed. – E. Howlett

Our daughter, 9 years old, has been working on math with Katie for over a year. Even with a school IEP it truly feels like Katie is the main professional understanding how to work with our daughter and progress her math concepts. Katie is very patient and helps our daughter stay on task, but keeps it fun so she stays engaged.
Katie has more recently been a great sounding board for discussing the school IEP and what to ask for from the school to advocate for current needs. Thank you, thank you! – C. Marett

We are incredibly grateful for Katie’s Tutoring Service and the impact it has had on our child. Katie worked patiently and skillfully with our autistic, nonverbal child, finding ways for them to clearly communicate their understanding of the school curriculum. Katie focused on our child’s strengths, respected their communication style, and used thoughtful strategies that truly made a difference. Also, coordinated learning goals and skill sets with the school, creating consistency and confidence across environments. We’ve seen meaningful progress not only in academics, but in our child’s ability to express their knowledge. We highly recommend Katie to families seeking supportive, individualized tutoring. – J. G

Our daughter is Dyslexic and we needed a tutor to help her start reading to keep up in elementary school. We started with Katie when our kid was in 2nd grade and at that time our daughter was reading at a Kindergarten level, less than a year later she is in 3rd grade and reading at a second grade level. We have seen significant progress in her fluency. Most importantly we have avoided so many battles about doing the extra work. We have twice weekly private lessons with Katie and that is our daughter’s only extra focused study time so I don’t have to fight with her to do the extra work at home, other than basic reading practice. Not fighting why my kid about things I am not skilled to teach – price-less. – S. Leggett

Katie has been tutoring my second grade son for the past several months and the progress he has made is amazing! She is very patient with him and is able to keep him motivated and on track during their sessions – which is not easy given how much he prefers to talk rather than listen – but she does it. He even enjoys going and finds her to be a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend her. – Jamie

We had a great experience with Katie! I’d definitely recommend her. My son’s reading improved drastically through his twice weekly lessons. Katie was affordable, communicative, and my son enjoyed being around her. – E. Henning

I contacted Katie before we even moved to PNW in June 2023 because I knew my oldest daughter needed some help re-learning phonics because COVID had really put her in a clear deficit with spelling. Now my daughter is listening to the phonics better but is holding herself up with rushing through things. Katie has always been patient and adaptive while working with her, even doing extra reading on helping kids with ADHD. My daughter absolutely loves her (& Hope) and we all appreciate the confidence she has given her. I also love that I can text her about other subjects Sadie may need help with and she notates it to ask her what she is struggling with. It is a big help to me and I know I do not have to worry, as long as Katie is around to help her. – H. McBath

Katie is the reason our Kindergartner learned how to read this last year! She is extraordinarily patient, kind and great at motivating our very active little boys….So grateful we found her! – A. Smith
